Since 1979, network marketing has pretty much been my life.
When I was first introduced to this profession, I knew nothing about it except vague rumors.
Today I see it as the most powerful vehicle available to everyday people for transforming lives. What other career path gives you an active network of friends, time freedom, an income level you can control, residual earnings, and deep, lasting personal growth?
Not the corporate world, last I checked.
When you realize you receive all these benefits only by helping others achieve the same, you get a glimpse at what the business is all about.
Call it multilevel marketing, network marketing, or direct sales, we are a force to be reckoned with.
More than 103 million people worldwide are involved, and we move more than $183 billion of sales volume worldwide.
Building a network marketing business is like having a franchise, only better. It offers many of the benefits of a franchise without the franchise headaches—no hefty franchise fee, no employees, and little or no inventory. If you build it big enough, you can actually retire and continue earning income. Plus, the business is willable and saleable.
But the business advantages are only the obvious side of the coin; the side that people on the outside can easily observe.
What I loved about writing the Chicken Soup for the Network Marketers Soul book is that it shows the world the other side of the business—the human side.
The people who get deeply involved in network marketing undergo one of the most rewarding and challenging personal development courses on Earth.
Network marketing is, first and foremost, an arena for personal growth.

Together with my partner in business and life, Mary Ann, I tackled this project which became far more than a book to us. It became a labor of love as we connected with astounding people from all over the globe.
Knowing the kind of individuals that work in this business, we expected to receive some pretty inspirational material, but even we were surprised by the quality, depth, and variety of the stories we collected. We laughed, cried, had goose-bumps, and paused in wonder. We were genuinely, undeniably inspired.
